Blanchardstown Library marks the midterm break with a Halloween quiz and games session for younger children, mixing a short spooky-themed quiz with games during the last week of October. It’s a free, low-key option for filling an hour of the Halloween school break without a trip further afield.
The hour-long session runs midweek during the October midterm, with a short quiz followed by games, all loosely themed around Halloween. Children are welcome to come in costume if they’d like, though it isn’t required. It’s pitched at 6 to 10 year olds, an age where kids are old enough to take part properly in a quiz format but still very much in trick-or-treat mode for the season. As with the library’s other children’s events, numbers are limited and booking in advance is required.
Public libraries are consistently reliable for free, well-run Halloween programming, and Blanchardstown Library’s midterm slot is a solid option for parents in Blanchardstown, Castleknock and the wider Dublin 15 area looking for something free and local during the break, alongside the bigger county-wide Halloween events elsewhere in Fingal. Blanchardstown Library serves one of the most densely populated parts of the country, with Dublin 15 regularly cited as among Ireland’s largest postal districts by population, so midterm sessions like this one tend to book out quickly once places go live on Eventbrite.
Blanchardstown Library is in the Civic Centre at Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, on regular Dublin Bus and Go-Ahead routes from the city and surrounding suburbs, with extensive parking at the shopping centre itself.
Blanchardstown’s Civic Centre sits inside the wider Blanchardstown Centre complex, one of the biggest shopping and leisure hubs in Dublin 15, giving families plenty to combine with a library visit during the midterm break. There is more to see across Co. Dublin.
