At Crolly Distillery · An Coillín Darach, Croithlí, Co. Donegal, F92 XHH5
Crolly Distillery, in the Gaeltacht village of Croithlí, produces Croithlí whiskey and runs guided tours every day of the week. Tours depart hourly between 11am and 7pm, and from midday on Sundays, and take roughly 60 to 75 minutes depending on the package and the size of the group. Three tiers are offered. The Tour and Tasting covers the production process with a new-make spirit sample and one premium whiskey tasting. The Tour and Tasting Upgrade swaps that single tasting for three premium whiskeys. The Premium Experience adds time in the VIP tasting lounge and a Bottle Your Own session, where you fill and label a cask-strength bottle to take home.
The visitor centre also runs a shop, bar and cafe open daily from 11am to 7pm, from midday on Sundays, so it works as a coffee or a drink stop outside tour times. The Distiller’s Board, a gourmet sharing platter, is served Friday to Sunday only. The site is fully wheelchair accessible with accessible parking bays, children are welcome although tastings are strictly 18 and over, and infants under two go free on tours. The distillery has taken Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice award in both 2024 and 2025, which reflects steady year-round visitor numbers rather than a summer-only operation.
Croithlí is on the R259 in the Donegal Gaeltacht, about fifteen minutes from Gweedore and ten minutes from Donegal Airport at Carrickfinn, with Letterkenny roughly forty minutes away. The distillery has free on-site parking including accessible bays. There is no rail link in this part of Donegal, so a car or an organised coach tour is the realistic way in. Assistance dogs are welcome indoors, and other dogs are allowed in the outdoor areas.
