At VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Art · Old Dublin Road, Carlow, Co. Carlow, R93 A3K1
VISUAL Carlow runs a Monday morning Mother and Baby Yoga class for postpartum mothers and their babies, led by yoga teacher Laura Locab, who has over 585 hours of accredited training with a specialism in prenatal and postnatal work. The hour combines gentle movement aimed at postpartum recovery with meditation, baby massage and stretches that involve the baby rather than working around them. VISUAL describes it as a warm and accepting space to land with your baby and reconnect with breath and body.
The class is deliberately relaxed about what babies do. Mothers can feed, change, settle or walk a crying baby at any point without the session stopping, which is the practical difference between this and a general postnatal fitness class. Tea and coffee are included afterwards, so the social half-hour is as much the point as the yoga for mothers on maternity leave in Carlow. The summer run started on 8 June and its final listed session is Monday 17 August 2026; VISUAL usually posts an autumn programme on its What’s On page.
VISUAL sits on the Old Dublin Road in the grounds of Carlow College, roughly a ten-minute walk from the town centre. On-site parking is free for visitors and worth using given the gear that travels with a small baby. Carlow railway station on the Dublin Heuston to Waterford line is about fifteen minutes on foot.
