At Woodford Dolmen Hotel · Kilkenny Road, Carlow, Co. Carlow, R93 N207
Sheer Luck Holmes: The Case of the Floating Fiancée is a murder mystery dinner theatre night staged in the Woodford Dolmen Hotel on Saturday 12 September 2026. It comes from the company behind Faulty Towers The Dining Experience, which has been touring Ireland since 2009, and it works the same way: actors stay in character and work the room while dinner is served, the plot advances between courses, and the audience is folded into the evening rather than watching from a distance. The hotel’s own billing promises hilarious characters, deadly twists and dastardly turns wrapped around a three-course meal.
Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 7.30pm, running to roughly 9.30pm. Tickets are from €62 per person and that price covers both the performance and the three-course dinner, so this is a full night out rather than a show ticket with food charged separately. Seating is at tables, so groups can book together, and because the cast move through the room the tables nearest the action get the most of it. Booking is through Eventbrite or directly with the hotel’s events office.
The Woodford Dolmen sits on the Kilkenny Road on the southern edge of Carlow town, on the bank of the River Barrow, about ten minutes on foot from the town centre. Drivers leave the M9 at the Carlow exits and follow signs for the town and the Kilkenny road; there is free parking on site. Carlow railway station, on the Irish Rail Dublin Heuston to Waterford line, is roughly 25 minutes away on foot or a short taxi ride.
