Heritage Art Camp with Jean Robertson at Carlow County Library

At Carlow County Library · Tullow Street, Carlow, Co. Carlow, R93 H738

Children working on an art project at a library table

What to Expect

Carlow County Library runs a four-hour Heritage Art Camp with artist Jean Robertson on Tuesday 18 August as part of National Heritage Week 2026. The camp runs from 10:00am to 2:00pm in the library on Tullow Street and is free to attend. The listed activities are printing from nature and puppet making using natural fibres, with all materials provided, so the output is the children’s own work rather than a demonstration they watch.

Four hours is a full morning-into-afternoon session rather than a drop-in slot, and it is set for children aged 7 to 12. The library service runs a dense Heritage Week programme in the same building across the week, including Ice Cream Science for younger children on the Wednesday, the Echoes from The Barrow project across the Carlow, Tullow, Bagenalstown and Borris branches, and evening talks for adults. Parents dropping a child to the art camp can check what else is running that week while they are in.

Carlow County Library is in the Presentation Building on Tullow Street, right in the centre of Carlow Town and a short walk from the Potato Market, Dublin Street and the shopping centre. Carlow railway station on the Dublin Heuston to Waterford line is roughly ten minutes on foot. Use the Shopping Centre or Potato Market car parks rather than looking for a space on Tullow Street itself, which is pedestrianised in sections.
