Glenarm Castle runs a children’s off-road Mini Land Rover experience on a purpose-built track in the castle estate, open on select days from 9 June to 31 October 2026.
Five scaled-down Land Rovers are available, each fitted with a steering wheel, starter key, accelerator, lights and a direction switch, with a top speed adjusted for safety to around 5mph. Children must be at least 97cm and no taller than 150cm to drive, and must be at least 3 years old; a parent walks alongside the track while operators can also cut the engine remotely with a hand-held fob. One car can carry two smaller children, and the experience is best suited to children up to around 10 years old. Each session lasts 30 minutes including a safety briefing. Pre-booking is recommended, since priority is given to pre-booked guests over walk-ins, and visitors are asked to arrive 10 minutes before their session.
Glenarm Castle is on the Antrim Coast Road, approximately 30 miles north of Belfast. Limited on-site parking is available at the castle entrance.
Glenarm is one of the oldest towns in Northern Ireland, built up around Glenarm Castle, the historic seat of the Earls of Antrim, with its Barbican Gate and walled garden facing onto the village. There is more to see in Glenarm and across Co. Antrim.
