Belfast comedian Paddy McDonnell plays The Harbour Bar in Bray on Thursday, 15 October 2026 with his stand-up show Gout’s Out. McDonnell started performing in 2011 and built his early reputation supporting Des Bishop and Ardal O’Hanlon, before developing his own act around everyday material drawn from working as a taxi driver and life as a husband and father. Gout’s Out turns those same instincts on getting older, trying to stay young through boxing while nursing a gout diagnosis, and the general chaos of raising kids in your forties.
McDonnell’s comedy leans on observational, self-deprecating storytelling rather than one-liners, built from the small indignities of daily life rather than abstract material. The Bray date is part of a wider run of the Gout’s Out show around Ireland and the UK, so audiences can expect a full, structured set rather than a work-in-progress try-out night. The Harbour Bar’s upstairs room is a small, pub-style venue, so the show has the close, informal feel typical of the venue’s regular comedy nights rather than a theatre setting.
The Harbour Bar is on Bray seafront at 1 Strand Road, within walking distance of Bray DART and railway station on the Dublin to Rosslare line, with seafront car parking nearby. The comedy room is upstairs in the pub.
The Harbour Bar is a long-standing Bray venue for live comedy, also hosting the monthly Hardy Har Comedy Club and the annual Bray Comedy Festival each February. There is more to see and do in Bray and across Co. Wicklow.
