The Wake by Adrienne Murphy - Fundraiser for Hope Cancer Support Centre

At IFA Centre · IFA Centre, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford

Community hall stage set for a fundraising comedy play in Enniscorthy

What to Expect

The Wake is a comedy written by Adrienne Murphy, staged for three nights at the IFA Centre in Enniscorthy in aid of Hope Cancer Support Centre. The play is billed around secrets, stories, songs, scandals and shenanigans, which is to say it takes the Irish wake and plays it for laughs rather than tears. It runs at 8pm on each of the three nights, Thursday 10, Friday 11 and Saturday 12 September 2026.

Hope Cancer Support Centre is the Enniscorthy based charity that provides free counselling, complementary therapies and practical support to people living with cancer in County Wexford and their families. The centre relies almost entirely on local fundraising, and community productions like this one are a standard part of how it keeps its services free at the point of use. The centre’s other well known fundraiser is the Hope and Dream 10 road race, held each spring. If you cannot make one of the three nights, the centre takes donations directly.

Tickets and enquiries go through 087 0032506. Numbers at the IFA Centre are limited, and three nights of a local charity show in a town the size of Enniscorthy usually means the later nights fill first, so booking ahead is sensible.
