At Ballyvaloo Retreat and Conference Centre · Ballyvaloo, Blackwater, Co. Wexford
Spiritual Rest is a short residential retreat at Ballyvaloo Retreat and Conference Centre, running from Tuesday 27 to Thursday 29 October 2026. It is the shortest format the centre offers in the autumn, two nights rather than a full week, and is aimed at people who want a structured break for prayer and quiet without committing to a longer stay. The fee is €205 and covers the residential stay.
Ballyvaloo sits on the coast north of Blackwater village, on the stretch of shoreline between Curracloe and Kilmuckridge, and the setting does a lot of the work. The centre’s grounds run towards the sea, and the beach walks are a normal part of how people use a retreat there. The house itself takes both residential guests and day groups, and the pattern of a short retreat is usually a mix of input sessions, shared prayer, silence and free time.
October is mid term week in Irish schools, which makes this one of the easier weeks in the year for teachers and parents to get away. Places are limited and booking is by enquiry rather than instant online purchase, so contact the centre directly to check availability before making plans.
Ballyvaloo is on the coast just north of Blackwater village, about 20 km north east of Wexford Town and roughly the same from Enniscorthy. From Wexford Town take the R741 or the coast road through Curracloe and Ballinesker and follow signs for Blackwater. From the N11 leave at Oilgate or Enniscorthy and cross east to Blackwater on the R744. There is parking on site. No regular bus serves Ballyvaloo, so drive or take a taxi from Wexford Town or Enniscorthy railway stations, both on the Dublin Connolly to Rosslare Europort line.
