Pioneer Ministry Gathering 2026

At Bloomfield House Hotel, Leisure Club & Spa · Bloomfield House Hotel, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, N91 HP8E

Conference room set up for a church gathering with rows of chairs

The Church of Ireland’s Pioneer Ministry holds its annual gathering at Bloomfield House Hotel in Mullingar on Saturday 21 November 2026, running from 10am to 4pm. The day brings together people involved in or curious about pioneer ministry work, the strand of church activity focused on reaching people with little or no existing connection to a congregation.

What to expect

Keynote speaker is the Rt Revd Dr Graham Tomlin, former Bishop of Kensington and founding Dean of St Mellitus College, who now chairs the Inter-Anglican Standing Commission on Unity, Faith and Order. His session sits alongside talks from other Church of Ireland speakers and practical, discussion based sessions on starting and sustaining pioneer projects. Organisers describe the focus as inspiration, practical application and collaboration, with plenty of built in time for attendees to network with people doing similar work in parishes and dioceses around Ireland. Registration runs from 10am, with proceedings starting promptly at 10:30am. Tea, coffee and lunch are provided across the six hour day. Mullingar is a deliberate choice of location for a national gathering of this kind, roughly an hour from Dublin and reachable in a day from most Church of Ireland dioceses without an overnight stay, and the hotel setting gives the organisers breakout space for the discussion sessions alongside the main room. Booking is through Eventbrite rather than through a diocesan office, and the ticket price is shown on the listing.

Getting there

Bloomfield House Hotel sits just outside Mullingar town, with its own car park and leisure club and spa on site, making it a straightforward drive from the town centre.
