What to Expect

The Comeragh Oil Western Intermediate Hurling Championship moves into its knockout weekend on Saturday 15 August with two ties in west Waterford. Kilrossanty take on Sliabh gCua/St Mary’s at Colligan, and Ballyduff Upper meet Colligan Emmetts at Dungarvan. Both are winner-takes-all games with a place in the western final at stake.

Colligan Emmetts arrive on the back of a hard-won quarter-final against Modeligo at Cappoquin on 8 August, where they came through 1-24 to 4-10. The western board grades are the backbone of club hurling between the Comeraghs and the Blackwater, and the Kilrossanty and Sliabh gCua pairing brings together two of the strongest hurling and football dual parishes in the west of the county. Expect big travelling support from Lemybrien, Ballymacarbry and the Nire valley.

Getting There

Colligan GAA grounds are north-east of Dungarvan off the R672, about ten minutes from the town and signposted from the Colligan crossroads. Dungarvan GAA is on the northern edge of the town, close to the N25 bypass, with its own parking and overflow on the approach road. From Waterford city both venues are roughly 45 minutes on the N25. From Clonmel and the Nire side, take the R671 south through Ballymacarbry and Lemybrien. Bus Éireann route 40 serves Dungarvan town from Waterford and Cork, but there is no public transport to Colligan, so plan on driving or sharing a lift.
