Run and Walk for Solas 2026

What to Expect

Solas Cancer Support Centre runs its biggest fundraiser of the year across two days and two towns. The Dungarvan leg goes first, starting from Walton Park at 10am on Saturday 10 October 2026, and the Waterford city leg follows from the Quay at 10am on Sunday 11 October. Both offer a 10k run or walk and a shorter 4k walk, so families and slower walkers are catered for alongside club runners.

Solas is a local charity providing free support services to people affected by cancer across Waterford and the south east, and the run and walk pays for a large share of that work. Entry is €25 for adults and €15 for children, which includes a t-shirt and an event medal. There is a virtual option for anyone who cannot make either date in person, and the centre encourages workplaces to take part as teams under its #GoOrangeForSolas banner. Registration is handled through Eventmaster.

Getting There

Walton Park is on the Dungarvan side of the harbour, walking distance from Grattan Square and the town’s main car parks, and the western end of the Waterford Greenway finishes nearby. Dungarvan sits on the N25 between Waterford and Youghal, with Bus Éireann and Expressway services stopping in the town. For the Sunday event, the Quay runs along the south bank of the Suir in Waterford city, with parking at City Square, the Quay itself and Bolton Street, and Plunkett Station a short walk across Rice Bridge.
