At Granville Hotel · Meagher's Quay, Waterford, Co. Waterford
This is a full-day beginner DIY workshop at the Granville Hotel on Meagher’s Quay, held on Saturday 26 September 2026. Doors open at 9.30am, the class runs from 10am to 4.30pm, and no previous DIY experience is assumed or needed.
The day works through five practical home maintenance jobs: putting up a shelf, rewiring an electrical plug, tiling a wall, fixing a dripping tap and bleeding a radiator. The format is hands-on rather than demonstration-led, and the listing is explicit that participants do every skill themselves rather than watch someone else do it. Tools, materials, safety equipment and refreshments are all provided, so there is nothing to bring. Numbers are capped at 35 so that everyone gets time at the bench. These are the specific jobs that most often end up costing a call-out fee, and doing each one once under supervision is usually enough to be able to repeat it at home. The class is open to all ages and the organisers encourage people to book alongside a friend, a sister or a daughter rather than come on their own. Places are booked through Eventbrite.
The Granville Hotel is on Meagher’s Quay, on the riverfront in the centre of Waterford city, directly opposite the moorings on the River Suir. Plunkett Station is about a ten-minute walk across Rice Bridge, and the Bus Eireann and Local Link stops on the Quay are right outside the door, which makes the day straightforward from Dungarvan, Tramore, Kilkenny, New Ross and Wexford without a car. Drivers coming in on the N25 should follow signs for the city centre and the Quay, and use the Hanover Street, Bolton Street or City Square car parks, all within a few minutes’ walk. On-street parking on the Quay is metered.
