AJA: The Music of Steely Dan at Theatre Royal Waterford

At Theatre Royal Waterford · The Mall, Waterford, Co. Waterford

Eight-piece band performing Steely Dan songs on stage at Theatre Royal Waterford

What to Expect

AJA are an eight-piece band built specifically around the studio sound of Steely Dan, and they bring a two-hour set to Theatre Royal Waterford on Saturday 15 August 2026. Rather than working from a greatest-hits shortlist alone, the show mixes the familiar singles with deeper album cuts, and the arrangements are worked back towards the original recordings. The venue’s own billing points to the signature guitar lines, brass arrangements, keyboard solos and layered vocal harmonies being reproduced as they were laid down in the studio, which is the whole reason a band this size is needed in the first place.

The lineup is David O’Meara on vocals and percussion, Sinead Stone on vocals and percussion, Gerard Farrelly on keys and vocals, Colm Lindsay on guitar and vocals, Tommy Moore on bass and vocals, Serge Stavila and Mark Wilde on saxophones, and Alan Cunningham on drums. The twin saxophones and the three-way vocal split are what let the group get near the horn charts and close harmony that define records like Aja, Gaucho and Can’t Buy A Thrill. No support act is listed, so the running time is given over entirely to the main set.
