What to Expect

A Village is a one-night production at Theatre Royal Waterford on Tuesday 18 August 2026, staged by the Aiseiri Progression Programme. The play is set in a world drawn from Brehon Law Ireland, and the action turns on a village confronted by an authoritarian figure who arrives making serious accusations against it. What follows is a study of how a small, tightly bound community behaves when someone with power starts naming names, and how quickly belief and suspicion move through a group of people who all know each other.

The theatre describes the piece as blending dark humour with raw human truth, with the characters pushed to work out what they actually hold to be true once fear enters the room. It is a single performance rather than a run, so there is no second night to fall back on. Aiseiri is a Waterford-rooted addiction treatment organisation and its Progression Programme uses theatre-making as part of recovery work, which gives the production a different footing from a standard touring show. Getting There

Theatre Royal is on The Mall in Waterford city centre, a short walk from the Quay, the city centre bus stops and the main shopping streets. Drivers come in on the M9 from Dublin or the N25 from Cork and Wexford, and there is multi-storey and on-street parking close to the theatre. Plunkett Station, Waterford’s rail and Bus Eireann terminus, is on the north bank of the Suir, roughly fifteen minutes on foot over Rice Bridge.
