What to Expect

The Hill of the O’Neill stages an immersive murder mystery night on Friday 9 October 2026, setting the audience down in the Court of the Earl of Tyrone in 1594 with a body and no culprit. Guests are not spectators here: the format asks everyone in the room to gather evidence, weigh the suspects and settle on who did it, with the Earl promising a reward for anyone who solves it.

The evening blends live performance and storytelling with the real history of the site, which was the seat of the O’Neills before the Plantation. The venue’s own description promises that “through rich storytelling and immersive performance, you will become part of a tale long buried in the mists of Tyrone’s turbulent past”. Getting There

Ranfurly House and the Hill of the O’Neill sit at 26 Market Square in the centre of Dungannon, with the hill rising directly behind the building. Dungannon is reached from junction 15 of the M1 and sits on the A29 and A45, about 40 miles from Belfast, 25 from Armagh and 30 from Cookstown. There is a car park at Ranfurly House itself and further town centre parking on Scotch Street and Irish Street within a couple of minutes’ walk. Dungannon bus centre on Scotch Street is served by Ulsterbus and Goldline routes from Belfast, Omagh, Armagh and Cookstown, though a late evening dinner event will need a car or a lift home.
