What to Expect

Loughmacrory parkrun is a free, timed 5k held every Saturday at 9.30am on the Loughmacrory Walk and Nature Trail, laid out around Loughmacrory Lough in mid Tyrone. The next event is Saturday 15 August 2026, and it repeats weekly from there. It is one of three parkrun events in County Tyrone alongside Omagh and MUSA Cookstown, and like all of them it is free to enter and open to every standard, from first-timers walking it to club athletes chasing a personal best.

The course combines laps of the Loughmacrory GAA pitch with a loop of the lough path, making a scenic and mostly flat 5k on grass and trail surfaces. The start is at the side of the GAA pitch nearest the lough path. Timing is done against a personal barcode scanned at the finish, and the event runs entirely on volunteers, from marshals to timekeepers. A post-run coffee at The View at the Lough Cafe in the GAA car park has become part of the weekly routine for many of the regulars.

Getting There

Loughmacrory sits roughly midway between Omagh and Carrickmore on minor rural roads, about a 15 minute drive from Omagh town and reached off the B4 and local roads from the A505. There is parking at the GAA grounds car park right beside the start and finish. There is no useful bus service to the village on a Saturday morning, so travel by car. Anyone coming from further afield will find Omagh the nearest town for accommodation, food and fuel.
