What to Expect

Ralph McTell plays Strule Arts Centre in Omagh on Friday 23 October 2026 at 8pm on what is billed as his final national tour, Somewhere Down the Road. The Ivor Novello Award winner has more than fifty years of songwriting behind him, and is best known worldwide for Streets of London, the song that has followed him through his whole career.

The tour accompanies a new album, The Timedrift of the Road, which revisits McTell compositions with Irish connections through interpretations by Irish musicians he admires, set alongside newly written material. Strule describes the night as “a rare chance to experience a master songwriter celebrating a lifetime of music” and “a heartfelt, celebratory journey through the life and songs”. Given the farewell framing, this is likely to be the last time he plays Omagh, and the venue put tickets on sale well in advance.

Getting There

Strule Arts Centre is on Townhall Square in the middle of Omagh, beside the river Strule and a couple of minutes from High Street. Omagh lies on the A5 between Derry and Aughnacloy and the A32 from Enniskillen, around 70 miles from Belfast and 34 miles from Derry. Council car parks at Kevlin Road, Church Street and the Showgrounds are all a short walk from the door. Omagh bus centre on Mountjoy Road is five minutes away on foot, served by Ulsterbus and Translink Goldline coaches from Belfast, Derry, Enniskillen and Dublin. The arts centre has a bar and cafe open before performances.
