Mid Ulster District Council Policy and Resources Committee, Cookstown

At The Chamber, Mid Ulster District Council Offices, Cookstown · Council Offices, Cookstown, Co. Tyrone

Council committee chamber set out for an evening meeting

What to Expect

Mid Ulster District Council’s Policy and Resources Committee sits in the Chamber at the council’s Cookstown office on Thursday 3 September 2026 at 19:00, with the meeting also running by virtual means. Policy and Resources is the committee that handles the council’s finances, corporate policy, human resources, governance and the cross-cutting decisions that do not fall to Planning, Environment or Development, so it is usually where budget pressures, rates and major corporate items surface first.

Mid Ulster runs a committee cycle across Council, Audit, Planning, Policy and Resources, Development and Environment, with sittings rotating between the council’s offices in Cookstown, Dungannon and Magherafelt. Agendas and the open-business document pack are published through the council’s CMIS system, with the council noting that the open-business pack is made available from 1pm on the day of the meeting. Members of the public and press can attend the open portion of committee meetings; some items are taken in confidential session and the public gallery is cleared for those. This is procedural local government business rather than a public event, but it is the most direct way to see how spending and policy decisions across Cookstown, Dungannon, Coalisland, Magherafelt and the surrounding district are actually taken.
