TRYKA Simulation at Breakthrough Performance, Ballybay

At Breakthrough Performance, Ballybay GAA Club · Ballybay, Co. Monaghan, A75 YX48

Athletes taking part in a training simulation session at a sports performance gym

What to Expect

Breakthrough Performance, which operates out of Ballybay GAA Club, is running a TRYKA simulation on Saturday 5 September 2026 from 9am to 12.30pm, with doors from 8.30am. The purpose is in the name: it is a full run-through of the TRYKA format so that anyone considering entering the real thing gets to do it once first, in a controlled setting, before committing to the event itself.

That is a useful thing in its own right. Doing a dress rehearsal of an endurance or multi-discipline event tells you far more about pacing, kit and where you are likely to come unstuck than any amount of training in isolation, and it lets you make mistakes somewhere they do not count. The session runs three and a half hours, which is the full duration rather than a shortened taster, and it is set at ages 16 and over. It is run by Dessie Ward at Breakthrough Performance. Free parking is available at the GAA grounds. The listing does not set out the individual disciplines involved or state an entry fee, so anyone booking should check with Breakthrough Performance directly on what the simulation covers, what kit is needed and what it costs. Booking goes through Eventbrite in advance.
