Yours Sincerely with Edel Coffey is a correspondence-based creative writing series run by The Source Arts Centre in Thurles, taking place from Saturday, 26 September to Monday, 9 November 2026.
Over the five weeks of the series, participants exchange letters with the Irish novelist Edel Coffey, with an optional Zoom meeting at the end to bring the correspondence together. It is a slower, more considered format than a typical workshop, built around writing and receiving five letters rather than attending in-person sessions, and it is aimed at anyone in the Tipperary area interested in corresponding with a published novelist. Places are limited to twelve participants, so early registration is worth it for anyone keen to take part. Because the whole series runs by post rather than in a classroom, participants can write at their own pace between letters, which suits people who find a traditional weekly workshop schedule hard to commit to. The Source Arts Centre coordinates the correspondence and the closing Zoom call, so participants deal directly with the centre for booking and any queries along the way.
The Source Arts Centre is on Cathedral Street in Thurles town centre, within easy walking distance of the town’s shops and the train station. Thurles sits on the main Dublin to Cork rail line, and Bus Éireann services also serve the town, making it straightforward to reach without a car for anyone attending the closing Zoom session in person at the centre.
Thurles is the home of Tipperary GAA and one of the county’s most historic towns, with the Cathedral of the Assumption and a lively market-town centre worth a look. There is more to see in Thurles and across Co. Tipperary.
