What to Expect

The Hills Are Alive! is a co-presentation between Wexford Arts Centre and The Duncairn, the arts and cultural centre in north Belfast, described by the organisers as aiming to cultivate creativity and connect communities from Cave Hill to Vinegar Hill. The two hills in question anchor the two cities involved: Cave Hill over north Belfast, and Vinegar Hill over Enniscorthy, the site of the decisive battle of the 1798 Rebellion.

The event brings community performers and speakers from both places onto the same stage, so it sits somewhere between a concert and a conversation rather than being a straight gig. On the Arts Centre’s own programme it appears as “The Hills are Alive - Club Fifty”, Club Fifty being the participation group taking part from the Wexford side. It runs at Wexford Arts Centre at 7.30pm on Saturday 15 August 2026, the same weekend that National Heritage Week opens across the county with Walled Town Day at Westgate.

Getting There

Wexford Arts Centre is in the old Market House on Cornmarket in the centre of Wexford town, a short walk uphill from the quayfront. Wexford O’Hanrahan railway station is on the quay, roughly ten minutes away on foot, on the Dublin Connolly to Rosslare Europort line. Bus Eireann and Wexford Bus services stop on the quay. The quay car parks are the closest parking, and the walk up to Cornmarket runs through the pedestrianised end of Main Street.
