Tablecloth Healing Project at Sigginstown Castle

What to Expect

For ten weeks a group of women have been meeting with textile artist Josephine Whitmore to work on a single large heirloom linen tablecloth, stitching it into a piece of collaborative art about grief and healing. On Thursday 20 August the work comes out of the workshop and into the Coach House at Sigginstown Castle, where visitors can see it, hear how it was made and talk to the women who made it. Whitmore facilitates the sessions in an Artist in the Community capacity, and the project is run with Women’s Collective Ireland.

This is an hour-long open session rather than a formal exhibition, so the emphasis is on conversation about the process. It sits inside Sigginstown Castle’s National Heritage Week programme, which runs across 15 to 23 August 2026 at the sixteenth-century tower house near Tomhaggard in south Wexford. The Coach House Cafe serves tea, coffee and homemade cakes from noon until 5pm on the day, so you can stay on after the session, and guided tours of the tower and castle run separately at 12.30pm and 2.30pm if you want to make a longer afternoon of it.

Getting There

Sigginstown Castle is on the Norman Way in south Wexford, between Tomhaggard and Kilmore, roughly half an hour by car from Wexford town and about twenty minutes from Rosslare Harbour. There is designated field parking on site. Roads in this corner of the county are narrow and unlit, so allow extra time, and note that the entrance driveway is gravel rather than tarmac.
