Sip and Paint at Enniscorthy Castle

What to Expect

Local artist Sarah Cogley leads this evening session at Enniscorthy Castle, using the building’s medieval architecture, history and art as the starting point for a painting session. The evening opens with a short tour of the castle, and participants then paint whatever caught their eye during it rather than working from a set subject given out at the start.

The ticket covers the tour, drinks and snacks, and all painting materials, so there is nothing to bring. No previous experience is needed, and the format is aimed at people who have not painted since school as much as at anyone with a habit of it. It runs as part of National Heritage Week 2026, which is why the castle is open for an evening event rather than closing at its usual 5pm. Places are limited and booking in advance is required.

Getting There

Enniscorthy Castle is on Castle Hill in the centre of Enniscorthy, a short walk from the main street and the Slaney bridge. The town is on the M11 and N30, around 20 minutes north of Wexford town and 90 minutes from south Dublin. Enniscorthy railway station sits on the Dublin Connolly to Rosslare Europort line across the river, though evening services are limited, so driving is the practical option for a 6.30pm start. Town centre car parks are free in the evenings.
