At The Glucksman · University College Cork, Western Road, Cork City, Co. Cork
Only the published dates are confirmed for this programme.
Panorama Europa has been on show at The Glucksman, on the University College Cork campus in Cork city, since 15 May and continues until Sunday, 1 November 2026. The gallery is open Tuesday to Sunday, 11am to 5pm, and closed on Mondays.
The exhibition brings together paintings, tapestry, sculptures and drawings by ten Irish artists: Ursula Burke, Michael Canning, Sian Costello, Genieve Figgis, Claire Halpin, David Eager Maher, Rachel Fallon, Eleanor McCaughey, Isabel Nolan and Geraldine O’Neill. Curated by Fiona Kearney and Katie O’Grady, it explores contemporary identities and wider societal issues through works that reference the traditions of European painting from the Pre-Renaissance to Impressionism, inviting visitors to consider how the artists draw on these older pictorial traditions to create new modes of representation.
The show takes its name from a commissioned work for the UCC art collection by Claire Halpin, developed in partnership with the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence for EU Integration and Citizens’ Rights. The piece evokes renowned works of art across a present-day canvas of events; as with the other works on display, history and tradition become grounds for reclamation and caution. A guided tour of Panorama Europa can be booked through the Glucksman website. The exhibition is supported by University College Cork, the Arts Council of Ireland and private philanthropy through Cork University Foundation.
The Glucksman sits on the University College Cork campus on Western Road, on the edge of Cork city centre, and is accessible by bus from the city centre.
Cork sits in the Lee Valley, built across an island where the river’s North and South channels fork and rejoin, with Patrick Street running along the spine between them. The English Market, in continuous use since 1788, is the heart of the city’s food culture, and University College Cork itself sits back from the centre on the Western Road. There is more on the city and the wider county at Cork and Co. Cork.
