What to Expect

The O’Meara’s Sliotars U16 Championship is Offaly Camogie’s under-16 club competition and it reaches its finals across late August and September. The A and B grades are run as a mixed-ability championship with a separate C competition, and every knockout tie is decided on the day rather than by replay. Twelve clubs took part in the 2026 season, from Birr and Shinrone in the south to Edenderry in the north east.

The semi-finals were played on Tuesday 11 August. Naomh Bríd met Birr and Tullamore met St Rynagh’s in the A semi-finals, while St Sinchill’s faced Edenderry and Shinrone met St Cillian’s Lusmagh in the B semi-finals. The A Final and the A Shield Final follow on Tuesday 25 August, with the B Final in early September and the C competition running its own semi-finals on Friday 28 August ahead of a C Final on Friday 11 September. Under-16 camogie in Offaly is played at a high tempo and the finals draw good club crowds on midweek evenings.

Getting There

Final venues are chosen by Offaly Camogie once the qualifiers are known, and are usually neutral club grounds in the middle of the county so that both clubs travel a similar distance. Tullamore, Kilcormac and Birr are the most commonly used, all on the N52 corridor and within 20 to 40 minutes of each other. Tullamore is the only one with a railway station, on the Dublin Heuston to Athlone and Galway line. Every club ground has parking on site or on the road outside.
