What to Expect

The Tullamore Court Hotel Senior Football Championship is Offaly’s top club football competition, and Round 4 of the league phase is the point where the group tables start to settle. Ten clubs are split into two divisions of five. Division 1 holds Tullamore, Shamrocks, Rhode, Ferbane and Edenderry, while Division 2 is made up of Clara, Ballycommon, Bracknagh, Clonbullogue and Durrow. Tullamore go in as holders after beating Ferbane in the 2025 final and are chasing a fourth title in a row.

The route out of the group is what gives these games their edge. The top two in Division 1 go straight to the county semi-finals, while the third and fourth placed sides drop into quarter-finals against the two leading teams from Division 2. Tullamore have already accounted for Shamrocks by 2-14 to 1-12 and Ferbane put 4-15 past Edenderry in early August, so the Friday night meeting of those two at Glenisk O’Connor Park carries real weight. Rhode, beaten finalists in several recent campaigns, take on Edenderry at the same ground on the Sunday evening in the pick of the north Offaly derbies.

• Sunday 16 August: Rhode v Edenderry, Glenisk O’Connor Park, throw-in 5:30pm.
• Division 2 Round 4: Clonbullogue v Durrow at Clonbullogue, 4:30pm on Saturday 15 August, and Bracknagh v Ballycommon at Daingean, 7:00pm across the same weekend.
• Round 5 completes the league phase before the quarter-finals, semi-finals and county final.
• Admission is taken at the gate. Fixtures are confirmed week by week by the county board and can move, so check offaly.gaa.ie before you travel.

Getting There

Glenisk O’Connor Park is on the eastern side of Tullamore, roughly a 15 minute walk from the town centre. Tullamore sits on the N52 and N80 and is about 20 minutes from junction 5 of the M6 at Kilbeggan. Tullamore railway station is on the Dublin Heuston to Athlone, Galway and Westport line. Street parking near the ground fills quickly on championship nights, so the town centre car parks are the safer option. Clonbullogue is signposted off the R401 near Edenderry, and Daingean is on the R402 between Tullamore and Edenderry, with parking at both club grounds.
