Offaly Junior Camogie Championship 2026: Round 1

What to Expect

The KODE Clothing and Footwear Junior Championship is the smallest of Offaly Camogie’s three adult grades and the most tightly run. Four clubs contest it in 2026: Ballinamere Durrow, Shinrone, Drumcullen and Lusmagh. All four play each other once in a straight round robin, then all four go through to semi-finals, with first place drawn against fourth and second against third. The final is played at a neutral venue where one can be arranged.

The grade is played twelve a side by default, which is the standard concession where clubs cannot reliably field fifteen. If both teams turn up with thirteen, fourteen or fifteen available, the numbers are matched up and the game is played at the higher figure. That flexibility is what keeps junior camogie alive in parishes like Lusmagh and Drumcullen, and it makes for open, fast games on full-size pitches. Round 1 on Saturday 15 August pairs Shinrone with Ballinamere Durrow and Drumcullen with Lusmagh.

• Round 2 is fixed for Wednesday 26 August: Lusmagh v Shinrone, and Ballinamere Durrow v Drumcullen.
• Round 3 is fixed for Saturday 12 September: Lusmagh v Ballinamere Durrow, and Shinrone v Drumcullen.
• Semi-finals are down for Saturday 26 September, first v fourth and second v third.
• The final is fixed for Saturday 10 October, at a neutral venue where possible.

Getting There

The four clubs sit in the south and west of the county. Shinrone is between Birr and Roscrea on the R491, roughly 15 minutes from Birr and reachable from the M7 at Roscrea. Drumcullen is in south Offaly near Birr, and Lusmagh is close to Banagher on the Shannon side of the county, about 20 minutes west of Birr on the R439. Ballinamere is nearer the centre of the county, a short drive from Tullamore, which is the only town of the four with a railway station. All grounds have parking on site.
