At Tullamore Court Hotel · O'Moore Street, Tullamore, Co. Offaly, R35 D406
The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine brings its International Year of the Woman Farmer series to the Tullamore Court Hotel for a free evening aimed at women working in Irish agriculture. The Tullamore date is one stop on a national run of these gatherings, and the format is a mix of information and networking rather than a formal conference. Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start, with the event finishing at 9pm.
Three themes carry the evening. The first is farm health, safety and wellbeing, an area where the midlands has its share of hard statistics. The second is financial planning, covering how to structure and plan the business side of a farm. The third is funding: what supports and schemes are open and how to go after them. Around those, the department has built in time to meet other women farming in Offaly and the surrounding counties, which for many attendees is the reason to travel.
The Tullamore Court Hotel is on O’Moore Street on the edge of Tullamore town centre, with its own free car park, which is the simplest option for an evening event. Tullamore is on the N52 from Mullingar and Birr and the N80 from Portlaoise, and is signposted from the M6 at Kilbeggan and the M7 at Portlaoise. Tullamore railway station on the Dublin Heuston to Galway line is a few minutes’ walk from the hotel, which suits anyone coming from Athlone, Portarlington or Dublin.
