At Esker Arts · High Street, Tullamore, Co. Offaly, R35 NY50
Clara Musical Society bring Dear Evan Hansen to the main auditorium at Esker Arts for four nights from Saturday 19 to Tuesday 22 September 2026, curtain up at 7:30pm each evening. The musical has a book by Tony Award winner Steven Levenson and a score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and it follows Evan Hansen, a socially anxious teenager who is mistaken for the closest friend of a classmate who has died by suicide. Rather than correct the error, Evan invents a friendship that never happened, and the lie grows into a public movement that finally gives him the belonging he has been missing.
The society is fielding a cast of eight with a live band, directed by Alan Recks with choreography by Lea Carroll. This is Clara Musical Society’s return to Esker Arts after their debut production of Frozen at the venue, and it is the first of two musicals the group plans to stage across its 2026/27 season. The production carries a PG-13+ advisory: the script includes references to drug use, sexting and suicide, along with some strong language, so it is pitched at teenage and adult audiences rather than younger children.
Esker Arts sits on High Street in the centre of Tullamore, a couple of minutes’ walk from O’Connor Square and the main shopping streets. Drivers reach Tullamore on the N52 from Birr and Mullingar or the N80 from Portlaoise, with the M6 to the north for anyone coming from Dublin or Galway. Tullamore railway station is on the Dublin Heuston to Galway line and is a short walk from the venue, which makes an evening show workable by train. Town centre car parks are within a few minutes of High Street.
