At Moat Theatre · Abbey Road, Naas, Co. Kildare
A Night at the Theatre is a benefit gala held in memory of Paul Smith, a Kilcullen man and keen music enthusiast, staged at the Moat Theatre on Sunday 20 September 2026. The evening was organised by his daughter Katie and brings together a programme of musical theatre repertoire performed by BA Musical Theatre students from MTU.
Caitlin Mansfield, herself an MTU Musical Theatre graduate, directs, with David Hayes as musical director. The format is a revue of well-known musical theatre numbers rather than a single staged work, so the running order moves across a range of shows over the course of the evening. All profits from ticket sales go to the Irish Cancer Society and to Saint Brigid’s Hospice at the Curragh. Tickets are €30 plus booking fee, with a group rate of four tickets for €100 that makes it worth coming as a party. The show runs from 8:00 PM to around 10:30 PM.
Naas is off the M7, roughly 35 km south-west of Dublin, and signposted from the motorway. The Moat Theatre is on Abbey Road, close to the main street, with town centre car parking a short walk away. Regular buses connect Dublin city centre with Naas, and Sallins and Naas railway station on the Dublin Heuston commuter line is about 4 km from the theatre. Kilcullen, where Paul Smith lived, is around 10 km south of Naas on the R448.
