The National Concert Hall Chamber Music Series runs on Sunday afternoons in the Kevin Barry Recital Room at Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin 2. The autumn and winter run opens on Sunday, 27 September 2026 at 3:00pm and closes on Sunday, 6 December 2026.
Six concerts, each built around a string quartet, presented in association with the National String Quartet Foundation.
The Lir Quartet opens on 27 September with Young at Heart: Haydn’s String Quartet in G major Op.76 No.1, a new Linda Buckley commission called Bullens Bay, and Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in A minor Op.13. The Raja Quartet follows on 11 October with A World of Quartets, and the Esposito Quartet plays White Man Sleeps on 25 October, that one at 4:30pm rather than the usual 3:00pm.
November brings two more: the Pirosmani Quartet with Tenderness and Turmoil on 8 November, and the Gealan Quartet with Prayers and Truths on 22 November. The Ficino Quartet closes the run on 6 December with The Lyric Tour.
The Kevin Barry Recital Room is the smaller of the hall’s rooms, which is what this repertoire wants: a short programme, a close audience, and no amplification between you and the players. Tickets are €17.50 a concert.
The National Concert Hall is on Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin 2, a short walk from the south-east corner of St Stephen’s Green. The Luas Green Line stops at St Stephen’s Green and several Dublin Bus routes serve the area.
