Music@Lunchtime is Ballina Arts Centre’s free half-hour concert series, and the next instalment falls on Wednesday 19 August 2026 with Aina Tysenko Valeriivna. Aina is a singer, songwriter, composer and dancer from Ukraine, and the venue describes her show as dedicated to peace in the world. She opens with her own composition Time for Peace, then moves through selections from Disney films and songs by established artists.
The format does not change from one instalment to the next: a 30 minute set at 1.15pm in the arts centre, free to walk into, with tea, coffee and biscuits served. It draws a mixed room of regulars who treat it as a standing appointment, people from nearby shops and offices on a lunch break, and visitors who spot the notice and come in. A different performer takes the slot each time, drawn from established and emerging acts, so it is worth checking the listing rather than assuming a repeat.
Ballina Arts Centre sits on the River Moy overlooking the Ridge Pool salmon stretch, in a building that mixes traditional stone with modern glass. Beyond the 220-seat auditorium it holds two dance studios facing the river, a print studio and a gallery, and the free lunchtime series is one small part of a full year-round programme.
Ballina Arts Centre is in the town centre on Barrett Street, an easy walk from the main shopping streets, with on-street parking nearby and public car parks a few minutes away. Ballina sits in north Mayo on the River Moy, about 40 minutes’ drive from Castlebar via the N5 and N57, an hour from Sligo on the N59, and roughly three hours from Dublin. Bus Eireann serves Ballina from Dublin, Castlebar, Sligo and Galway, and Ballina railway station, on a branch of the Dublin Heuston line, is about 15 minutes on foot from Barrett Street.
