Special Hands is a volunteer group dedicated to improving the lives of children and young adults with additional needs, and each November its members take to the stage at Swift Cultural Centre for their yearly pantomime. The 2026 production is a Frozen adaptation, with guest performers drawn from other Special Hands classes joining the main cast for the afternoon.
This is a community panto built around and for participants with additional needs, so the atmosphere is warm and inclusive rather than slick West End polish, and that is exactly the point. Frozen’s story of two sisters, an act of self-sacrifice and a kingdom thawed by love translates well to this kind of production, with familiar songs and a clear, upbeat story that suits a mixed-ability cast and a family audience of all ages. Because guest performers from other Special Hands classes join the core group, expect a genuinely community-wide event rather than a small, closed cast list, and a room that will include a lot of family and friends cheering on people they know personally. Swift Cultural Centre’s proper stage, seating and sound give the group a real theatre setting for a show that means a great deal to everyone involved in putting it on. Booking ahead is recommended given the venue’s audience of family and friends of a large volunteer group.
