At Westport Town Hall Theatre · Westport Town Hall Theatre, Westport, Co. Mayo
Sean Keane returns to Westport Town Hall Theatre on 8 and 9 September 2026 for the closing dates of his ninth annual summer residency in the town. The residency has run through the season from early July, and these two September dates are the ones still listed on the Destination Westport programme, so they mark the end of the run rather than the start of it.
Keane is from County Galway and came up through sean-nos singing before building a catalogue that moves between traditional Irish material, folk, country and blues. The London Independent called him the greatest musical find of the 1990s, a line the residency listings still lean on. The Town Hall Theatre is a small, hard-seated room by arena standards, which suits a singer who works close to an audience and talks between songs, and the residency format means the set does not simply repeat the same running order night after night.
Westport Town Hall Theatre is in the centre of Westport, a short walk from the Octagon and Bridge Street, so most people park once and walk. The town has public car parks off James Street and near the Fairgreen, and on-street spaces fill early on concert nights. Westport is reached on the N5 from Castlebar and Dublin and the N59 from Clifden and Leenane. Westport railway station is the western terminus of the Dublin Heuston line and is about 15 minutes on foot from the theatre, and Bus Eireann services link Westport with Castlebar, Ballina, Galway and Achill. Ireland West Airport Knock is around an hour by road.
