At Matt Molloy's · Bridge Street, Westport, Co. Mayo
The Ox Mountain Quartet play Matt Molloy’s on Bridge Street in Westport on Monday 24 August 2026, in a ticketed two hour concert running from 8.30pm to 10.30pm. The line-up is David Doocey, Stephen Doherty, Patrick Doocey and Siobhan O’Donnell, and the night is promoted by Sessions by the Moy.
This is a sit-down concert rather than one of the pub’s informal front-bar sessions, so it is worth being clear on the distinction: Matt Molloy’s runs live traditional music seven nights a week in the bar, and separately hosts booked concerts in its back room. A quartet of this standing playing a small room on a Monday night in late August is the sort of listing that fills before the day, and seating at Matt Molloy’s is first come first served, so arriving early matters. The pub does not serve food.
Matt Molloy’s is on Bridge Street in the middle of Westport, a minute’s walk from the Octagon and the Mall and surrounded by the town’s other pubs and restaurants. There is no parking at the pub. Use the public car parks off James Street or at the Fairgreen, both a short walk away, or on-street parking around the Octagon, which is easier on a Monday than at the weekend. Westport is about 20 minutes from Castlebar on the N5, an hour and a half from Galway on the N84 and N5, and roughly three and a half hours from Dublin. Westport railway station on the Newport Road is on the Dublin Heuston line, about 15 minutes on foot, and Bus Eireann services from Castlebar, Achill, Louisburgh and Galway stop in the town centre.
