Westport Parish holds a children’s Rosary in St Mary’s Church on Sunday 13 September 2026 at 10:30am, timed to finish before the 11am Mass. It is a short, child-led devotion: the decades are prayed at a pace children can follow, and families arriving for the later Mass can simply stay on in the church afterwards rather than making a second trip into town. Parents and grandparents are as much part of it as the children, and there is no requirement to have taken part before.
The children’s Rosary movement has spread across a number of Irish parishes over the last decade, usually run by lay volunteers with the parish’s backing and held monthly rather than weekly. Street parking is metered around the Mall and there are car parks off James Street and at the Fairgreen. Westport is served by Irish Rail from Dublin Heuston via Athlone and Castlebar, and by Bus Eireann from Galway, Castlebar and Achill, with the rail station a 15 minute walk from the church.
