Children's Rosary at St Mary's Church, Westport

At St Mary's Church · St Mary's Church, Westport, Co. Mayo

What to Expect

Westport Parish holds a children’s Rosary in St Mary’s Church on Sunday 13 September 2026 at 10:30am, timed to finish before the 11am Mass. It is a short, child-led devotion: the decades are prayed at a pace children can follow, and families arriving for the later Mass can simply stay on in the church afterwards rather than making a second trip into town. Parents and grandparents are as much part of it as the children, and there is no requirement to have taken part before.

The children’s Rosary movement has spread across a number of Irish parishes over the last decade, usually run by lay volunteers with the parish’s backing and held monthly rather than weekly. In Westport the gathering is publicised through the weekly parish newsletter with a contact number for the organiser, which is the practical way to check whether a given month’s session is going ahead. St Mary’s is the main parish church in Westport, on the edge of the town centre, and it is busy on Sunday mornings, so arriving a few minutes before 10:30am gives you a seat near the front where children can see and hear.
