At Great National Hotel Ballina · Great National Hotel, Ballina, Co. Mayo
Mayo County Council’s National Roads Office holds the third public consultation on the N26 Foxford to Mount Falcon scheme at the Great National Hotel in Ballina on Wednesday 19 August 2026, with the room open from 2pm to 7pm. The material on display is the Emerging Preferred Option Corridor, in other words the route corridor the project team has settled on after the earlier rounds of options assessment. Staff from the National Roads Office and the project consultants are on hand through the afternoon and evening to talk people through the drawings and answer questions face to face.
This is the stretch of the N26 between Foxford and Mount Falcon, north of the Foxford bypass and south of Ballina, and it matters to landowners, commuters and businesses along the corridor. A consultation of this kind is the practical point at which local knowledge gets on the record, whether that is about access, drainage, farm severance or the Moy valley environment. If you cannot get to Ballina on the day, a virtual consultation room runs online from 19 August to 4 September, covering the same material, and written submissions are accepted through the council.
The Great National Hotel is on the edge of Ballina beside the N26, so it is straightforward to reach by car from Foxford, Castlebar and Sligo, with parking on site. Ballina town centre is a short drive or a walk of about 15 minutes. Bus Eireann serves Ballina from Dublin via Longford and Castlebar and from Galway, and Ballina has an Irish Rail branch line service connecting to the Dublin to Westport route at Manulla Junction.
