Open Garden Day at Lough Lannagh Village, Castlebar

At Lough Lannagh Village · Lough Lannagh Village, Castlebar, Co. Mayo

Gardens at Lough Lannagh Village on the edge of Castlebar, Co. Mayo

What to Expect

The gardens at Lough Lannagh Village in Castlebar open to the public on Saturday 22 August 2026 from 1pm to 3pm, with the proceeds going to Sunflower Children’s Hospice. Open garden days of this kind are a staple of the late summer fundraising calendar across the west, and the format is simple: you walk the grounds during a set two-hour window, talk to whoever has been growing and maintaining them, and give to the cause on the way in or out. It is a short, low-commitment fundraiser rather than a full festival day.

Lough Lannagh sits on the western edge of Castlebar beside the lake of the same name, in grounds that adjoin the walking loop and the Lough Lannagh amenity area. That setting is a large part of the appeal: the garden visit combines easily with the lakeside walk, and the site is used year-round for community activity, including a monthly Alzheimer’s activity club run in the main hall. The event was circulated through Westport Parish’s weekly newsletter, which is how many Mayo charity dates are publicised, so it is worth ringing ahead if the weather looks poor on the day.
