Tetra Pack Printmaking Workshop with Susie Quinn

At Custom House Studios + Gallery · The Quay, Westport, Co. Mayo

Tetra Pack printmaking workshop at Custom House Studios, Westport

What to Expect

Susie Quinn leads a full-day Tetra Pack workshop at Custom House Studios on Saturday 10 October, running from 10am to 4pm. Tetra Pack printmaking uses the foil-lined card of an ordinary drinks carton as a printing plate. The card is drawn into, cut and inked, and because the surface is soft it takes a mark easily, which makes it one of the most accessible routes into intaglio-style printing without a specialist plate or a chemical bath.

Quinn also teaches the Gelli plate workshop in the same series, so the day sits within an ongoing printmaking strand at the studios. Custom House Studios on Westport Quay houses seven artist studios, two galleries and a printmaking workshop, and it is one of the better equipped print facilities in the west, so the setting is a working one rather than a classroom. Booking is essential and the fee is not published online, so contact the studios to confirm cost and materials. The autumn exhibition programme means there is usually something in the galleries to see before or after the session, with Mags Duffy’s The Faraway Nearby running to 17 October.
