How to Develop and Deliver an Exhibition with Valeria Ceregini

What to Expect

This is a practical, full-day session at the Linenhall on how an exhibition actually gets built, from first idea to install and audience. It is led by Valeria Ceregini, an Italian curator and art historian based in Ireland who works across ecological and trans-cultural research and community-engaged projects in Ireland and Europe. She holds degrees in Communication Science and History of Art along with qualifications in cultural heritage and museum studies.

Ceregini draws on her own record of curating national and international exhibitions and building interdisciplinary projects, and on her work founding MISCIA (Moving In Supporting Community In Art), a platform that runs mentorships and tailored professional development for artists. The workshop runs from 11:15am to 4pm, so it is a full working day rather than a short talk, and it is aimed at artists who want to move from making work to actually showing it. It is free to attend but booking is essential and places go through the Linenhall’s Ticketsolve system. The workshop is supported by Mayo Arts Office as part of the Linenhall’s professional development strand for artists.

Getting There

The Linenhall is on Linenhall Street in the middle of Castlebar. Drive in on the N5 from Dublin, the N84 from Galway, the N60 from Roscommon and Claremorris, or the N58 from Foxford and Ballina. Irish Rail runs Dublin Heuston to Castlebar via Manulla Junction, and the station is walkable from the town centre. Bus Eireann serves Castlebar from Dublin, Galway, Sligo, Ballina and Westport. Street parking nearby is pay-and-display, and there are larger car parks within a few minutes’ walk.
