At An Táin Arts Centre · Town Hall, Crowe Street, Dundalk, Co. Louth
Ralph McTell brings his From There to Here tour to Dundalk for one night in October. An Táin Arts Centre describes him as a true icon of the folk world, and the tour is billed as his final national run in Ireland. The set draws on his latest album, From There to Here, alongside material from more than five decades of songwriting.
McTell is best known to Irish audiences for Streets of London, but the show is built around his fingerstyle guitar playing and the stories he tells between songs about a working life in music. An Táin’s main auditorium seats around 350, which makes it a close-up room for this kind of solo performance. Tickets sold out ahead of the date, so the venue is running a waiting list rather than a general release, and returns are handled through the box office.
An Táin Arts Centre is in Dundalk Town Hall on Crowe Street, in the centre of town beside Clanbrassil Street. From the M1, take junction 16 or 18 and follow the town centre signs. Parking is available at the Crowe Street multi-storey and at the Marshes Shopping Centre, both a short walk away, and on-street spaces free up in the evening. Dundalk railway station is roughly 15 minutes on foot, with Enterprise and commuter services from Dublin Connolly and Belfast. Bus stops on Long Walk and Clanbrassil Street serve Bus Éireann and Translink routes.
