36th Eucharistic Adoration Anniversary Mass of Thanksgiving, Drogheda

What to Expect

St Peter’s Church on West Street marks the 36th anniversary of continuous Eucharistic Adoration in the parish with a Mass of Thanksgiving on Saturday 15 August 2026 at 10.30am. The parish has run daily Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament since 1990, staffed by a rota of adorers who each commit to a set hour every week, and this Mass is the annual thank-you to the people who have kept those hours filled. The parish note says simply: all welcome.

The date is deliberate. Saturday 15 August is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven, a holyday of obligation, so the church has a fuller Mass schedule than usual that day. There is a vigil Mass on Friday evening at 7.30pm in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, then Masses on Saturday morning in St Peter’s at 8.30am and 10.30am and in Our Lady of Lourdes at 10am. The 10.30am in St Peter’s is the anniversary Mass. Later the same afternoon, a Rosary Procession in honour of Our Lady of the Assumption sets out from Holy Family Church at 4pm and goes around Ballsgrove.

Getting There

St Peter’s Church is on West Street in the centre of Drogheda, a few minutes on foot from the bus station on Donore Road and about fifteen minutes’ walk from Drogheda MacBride rail station on the Dublin to Belfast line. Scotch Hall and the town centre car parks are close by, and Saturday morning parking on West Street itself is limited.
