At Backstage Theatre · Farneyhoogan, Longford, Co. Longford
Only the published dates are confirmed for this programme.
Backstage Theatre hosts CHOP, a solo physical comedy show performed by Cian Kinsella and presented by Lords of Strut, on Thursday, 12 November 2026. There are two performances, at 10am and 2pm, with tickets priced at €10.
CHOP is a 50-minute solo show combining clowning, slapstick and real axe work and wood chopping. The venue describes it as centred on “a lone wood-chopper stuck in a strange, end-of-the-world loop, hacking away as everything around him falls apart,” using physical comedy to explore “fragile masculinity, environmental collapse, and the insatiable hunger for more.” The venue lists it under both comedy and schools, with an age guidance of 12+ and a separate box-office line for school bookings, and humour is used to open up the serious themes rather than avoid them.
Backstage Theatre is on Farneyhoogan on the edge of Longford town, with on-site parking for anyone driving in. Longford railway station, on the Dublin Heuston to Sligo Intercity line, is an easy walk or short taxi ride away, and Bus Éireann routes also serve the town. By road, the N4 connects Longford to Dublin in around ninety minutes.
With two performances on the same day, there is time to build a visit around either the morning or afternoon show and still see the town. Longford’s cafés and shops on Main Street are a short walk from the theatre. There is more to see in Longford and across Co. Longford.
