Paediatric First Aid Training for Childminders

What to Expect

Longford County Childcare Committee runs a full day paediatric first aid course at its Richmond Street premises in Longford Town on Saturday 29 August 2026. The session starts at 9:30am and finishes at 4pm, six and a half hours in total, delivered in person rather than online. It covers the paediatric first aid competencies needed in a childcare setting, which is a practical requirement for anyone minding children in their own home or in a service.

The course is aimed at two groups: people already working as childminders in County Longford, and people who are considering entering the profession and want the qualification in place before they start. Longford County Childcare Committee is the statutory body supporting early years and school age childcare in the county, so this is the local route to the training rather than travelling to Dublin or Athlone for it. Booking is through Eventbrite and the organiser operates a no refunds policy, so be sure of the date before you commit.

Getting There

Richmond Street is in the centre of Longford Town, running off the main street area and within easy walking distance of Market Square. Longford is on the N4 between Dublin and Sligo, about two hours from Dublin by car. Irish Rail serves Longford station on the Dublin Connolly to Sligo line, roughly ten minutes on foot. Bus Eireann route 23 and the Dublin to Sligo coach services stop in the town. Public parking is available at the Market Square and Mall car parks, and there is on-street parking on Richmond Street itself.
