What to Expect

Lisa O’Neill plays the Patrick Kavanagh Centre in Inniskeen on Thursday 10 September 2026 as part of Ulster Tour ‘26, a run that takes her band to all nine counties of the province. O’Neill is one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Irish folk, known for an unvarnished Cavan accent and songwriting with a social edge. Her album All Of This Is Chance went to number one on the Irish Independent charts and was named album of the year by Gideon Coe on BBC 6 Music. Her 2025 EP The Wind Doesn’t Blow This Far Right carries six tracks, among them the reading of Bob Dylan’s All The Tired Horses used in the final episode of Peaky Blinders. The Guardian has called her work uncompromising and soul-shaking; the New York Times described her as a modern artist tapped into the ancient. Playing a room built around Patrick Kavanagh’s parish gives the night an obvious resonance for anyone who follows the line between Irish poetry and Irish song.

Getting There

Inniskeen sits in the south-east corner of Monaghan, close to the Louth border, about 12 kilometres east of Carrickmacross and a similar distance from Dundalk. Coming from Dublin, take the M1 to Dundalk or the N2 to Carrickmacross and follow the local roads in. There is parking at the centre, which occupies the former St Mary’s Church in the village. There is no useful evening bus service to Inniskeen, so a car or a taxi from Dundalk or Carrickmacross is the realistic option.
