HER Outdoors Week runs nationally from 10 to 16 August 2026, and Leitrim Sports Partnership puts on a county programme of women-only outdoor sessions across the week. Everything is aimed at getting women and girls outside and active with no prior experience assumed, with qualified instructors and all equipment supplied on the water-based sessions.
The two Thursday sessions on 13 August are an Activator pole walking session at Dromahair Area Recreational Centre from 6pm to 7.30pm, which is free to attend, and a stand up paddleboarding session on the Shannon at Saint George’s Terrace in Carrick-on-Shannon from 7pm to 8.30pm. The week closes on Sunday 16 August with an Old School Sports Day and Kayaking Session at the Lough Rynn Amenity Area in Mohill from 2pm to 4pm, priced at €8 and open to females aged 12 and up. It pairs sack races, egg and spoon, three-legged races, skipping and relays with a kayaking session afterwards. Earlier in the week the programme also included kayaking in Carrick-on-Shannon on 11 August and a yoga class in Dromahair on the evening of 12 August.
Carrick-on-Shannon sits on the N4 with a rail station on the Dublin to Sligo line, and Saint George’s Terrace is a short walk from the town centre and the Market Yard car parks. Dromahair is on the R286 about 20 minutes from Sligo and 15 minutes from Manorhamilton. Lough Rynn Amenity Area is signposted outside Mohill, roughly 15 minutes from Carrick-on-Shannon, with parking at the amenity area itself.
