The Bjorn Identity: ABBA Tribute at The Landmark Hotel

At The Landmark Hotel · Shannon Lodge, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim

Tribute band in seventies costume performing under stage lights

What to Expect

The Bjorn Identity is an ABBA tribute show built around the fiftieth anniversary of Dancing Queen, and the Carrick-on-Shannon date brings it to The Landmark Hotel on the Sunday of the October bank holiday weekend. The production leans on the detail: real-life couples in the line-up to recreate the onstage chemistry of the original Swedish four-piece, full costume changes, choreography, and a replica of Benny Andersson’s spinning white piano.

The music runs to about two hours and covers the group’s best-known songs, with the whole event listed at three and a half hours including doors, interval and the wind-down afterwards. BBC Radio Ulster’s assessment was that it looks like ABBA and sounds like ABBA, and audience feedback quoted by the promoter picks out the costumes, choreography and voices. This is a stand-up and dance kind of night rather than a seated recital, and the hotel’s function room fills quickly at the front once the first few numbers land.
