Nth Degree Productions brings Mr. Bergmann of Deadman’s Point to The Dock in Carrick-on-Shannon on Friday, 13 November 2026, with an 8pm start.
Written and performed by Ronan Dempsey, the play is set in a basement in Sligo town, where an embalmer and a mysterious stranger meet: one wants to vanish, the other wants to be remembered forever. The Dock describes the piece as drawing on the true story of Peter Bergmann, an unidentified man who spent three days erasing all trace of himself around Sligo before he was found dead at Rosses Point. The production weaves mystery and comedy together to examine legacy, reputation and how close both sit to mortality, staged as a solo piece built entirely around Dempsey’s own writing and performance, with no other cast or interval to break the 65 minutes. The Dock recommends it for ages 14 and over given its subject matter.
The Dock is on St. George’s Terrace, Carrick-on-Shannon, County Leitrim, N41 T2X2. Free parking is available by the marina, with an electric vehicle charging point at Leitrim County Hall, and both Bus Éireann and Irish Rail run services into the town from Dublin and Sligo.
Carrick-on-Shannon is Leitrim’s county town, where the Shannon widens into the marina, with pubs and restaurants close to The Dock, including Cryan’s Teach Ceoil for traditional music, for before or after the performance. More on Carrick-on-Shannon and Co. Leitrim.
