Pride - Free Film Screening at The Dock

At The Dock · St George's Terrace, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim

Cinema screening at The Dock arts centre in Carrick-on-Shannon

What to Expect

The Dock screens Matthew Warchus’s 2014 film Pride free of charge on Thursday 27 August, programmed as part of Leitrim Pride Week 2026. The film tells the story of a group of London-based lesbian and gay activists who formed Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners during the 1984 miners’ strike, raising money for a mining community in south Wales while the pit villages and the London activists slowly work out what they have in common. The cast includes Bill Nighy and Imelda Staunton, and the film picked up Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations on release.

The running time is 119 minutes and the certificate is 15+, with the venue flagging strong and discriminatory language and soft drug use. The 6pm start makes it an early evening screening rather than a late one, which suits anyone travelling in from the wider county. Admission is free but the screening is ticketed through The Dock’s box office, so book a seat rather than arriving on spec.
